#3 SOLD! Here's #7 and #8.......... of 60 in 60 fpr $60

SOLD! Never get tired of hearing that word....especially when a painting goes to someone special for a commemoration of a particular event. This one will soon wing it's way to Kansas///

It has been a busy weekend with trying to still maintain a semblence of family time along with chores and still figure out your painting; then make time to paint it! Add trying to remember all you need to pack for two weeks, esp the art supplies and enough surfaces to keep up with this challenge. I'll do my best to not let you down...

#7 spent some time in the dark corner for misbehaving but got a reprieve today. Then I struggled with #8 because it was taken on a dark cloudy day and the values were so close. Guess that's part of the reason for this crazy venture...

Experimentation....marble and oils, acrylic, too!

Today I finished up one that I have been working on for a couple of days and having trouble getting just the color I wanted. It was too intense, then when I toned it down it was too dull, then I added another color and it seemed just right...........until it was completely dry...then it was too dark.

I knew that I would recognize the right color/value when it was acheived....

'Patience...'                 12 x 12" acrylic on mounted panel

Normally, I don't paint a subject repeatedly but I keep wanting to explore this one. I am really happy with the texture of the barn siding. Even though the cat is the main character the barn plays a huge role in making the star shine.

I then decided it was time to play and there was this piece of marble that I have been meaning to paint on. I researched a little and found moisture would really be a bad thing on this so I considered colored pencil, but I really wasn't sure; then I saw these oil pencils that I have had for many, many years.

Not sure how to use them and decided to explore on my own rather than search for the answers. I wanted to see what I could learn. Here is my first attempt. (I did learn a few things.)

Peace of the Desert and the birds

The desert offers up so many wonderful photograph opportunities or just nature-watching, if you aren't carrying a camera! Along with the enormous  Saguaro towering overhead, there are many other varieties of cacti and vegetation to provide shelter for birds and other critters. Each day, I am blessed with the entertainment of another variety. Yesterday morning, right after sunrise, a coyote came trotting down the mountain path....soon his friend followed. By the time I ran and got my camera, they were gone; so although I didn't get a photo, that quick glimpse remains a wonderful memory!

Peace of the Desert

Today I was able to photograph a bird I have been spotting often; it resembles a cardinal in body size shape and crested head, but it is all black. Then I was lucky enough to spot a pair of hawks...
