#56.... Went to a Garden Party.... of 60 paintings in 60 days for $60

You just never know where you will find flowers planted! Creative gardeners see differently...as did this one who recycled a 'past it's prime' upholstered chair. It served another purpose, as the little black & white kitty decided it was a great place to lounge! Love the use of the old 60's style light base behind it as a planter, too...

#52 Delphos Alley...plein air 6 x 8"...$60 for the 60/60/60

Just love it when you see  pride in your community and show it by sprucing up the walkways and alleys with flowers and architecture. It makes it so pleasant and people seem to respect it more and not litter as much. It sure was a pleasing sight to my eyes...

#45 and 46....60 paintings in 60 days for $60

Painting on location can be difficult but it is also  rewarding as you  improve your skills at finding the right color, stroke and value to convey your vision in paint! Sometimes it is a 'flinger' and other times it is priceless. One of the great perks of painting 'en plein air' is getting to soak up all the bounty that nature provides, by way of warmth, sunshine, variety of colors  and terrain!

Here are a couple more I hope you enjoy.........

#41 Daylily in Pink...60 paintings in 60 days for $60

There was a large group of these and I just wanted to single out one special lily to paint. The colors are a little softer and I didn't put in as much detail as I had planned but I rather like it this way...soft and kind of moody...

#31.......Hung Over.........

Whew! Almost caught up....

Had fun creating this one tonight with a certain someone in mind. A dear friend had a field of sunflowers  this year and invited me over to take photos of my granddaughter among them. It was a gorgeous sunny day, so I got some great reference photos for painting, too...

# 18 of 60 paintings in 60 days for $60

Number 18 is one of my favorites! Peonies are such short lived flowers and like lilacs, I just love their fragrance.

The best way to preserve their beauty and the joy they bring is to paint them!

Painting in PARIS...

What a wonderful place to be!     Paris, KY.....horse country....bluegrass for sure! For a small town of about 10,000, it has an amazing amount to offer! Great vista views, rolling countryside dotted with horses or  cattle or bales of hay...........colorful and architechturaly interesting buildings galore!

The downtown is vibrant and alive! Great places to eat, a wide variety of UNIQUE shops. The buildings are so very different and interesting with columns both large and small; the world's tallest three story building , called 'Paradise'........a great place for Chinese cuisine and some of the best service anywhere.

I am finding my artistic voice!!! What a joy........struggling but SO enjoying it. The time here is just whizzing by!

Here is my attempt from day # 1...

# 14......clearing the clutter

This getting in to the studio every day is so much easier this time. I think it is a mindset and the fact that this year I had chosen all the reference material ahead of time. Although i haven't stuck to keeping it simple, I am somehow having more enjoyment in the process. It could be that I am in the mode of 'cleaning out'..........you know, lessening the clutter. Not just the physical but the mental clutter.

I have been fortunate in recent years to travel a great deal and have some wonderful experiences with fellow artists. As I always have my camera and am gathering reference photos, I have accumulated a great deal. Many have stuck in my head for a painting, a series, a competition....you know what I mean! Anyway, I have been paring down my closets, Christmas decorations, just STUFF!

It feels wonderful to start putting some of those finally down on canvas and getting rid of some of the clutter in my mind. I think the fear of failure is my worst enemy. I am trying to get beyond that and if a painting is a failure, that's okay. It just puts me that much closer to the next good one.

Using the same surface for a number of paintings in a row is also teaching me a thing or two. I am growing in my knowledge of what surfaces work best for me and my statement.

Although I need to go back and tweek a thing or two, not a bad effort for today....
